Job Description: Alpha Technologies, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks an Applications Engineering Manager, for its team in Arlington, WA. This position will lead application engineering and technical support teams ensuring quality support of our internal and external customers. Additional responsibilities include employee training, technical document review, technical support escalation, customer and partner training and resources planning. Support customers and sales staff with renewable energy system designs, layout drawings, product quotations and application technical information. Act as the lead resource for complex engineering problem solving.

·Provides guidance, best practices, and support to application engineering teams
·Prioritizes and assigns projects such as application notes, system drawings, creation of training material, and lab work in conjunction with commercial team
·Travels domestically and worldwide as needed, assists sales with sales meetings, conducts product training, visits installation sites, and trouble shooting as required
·Manages and trains team to act as backup to technical support
·Monitors and submits material, either directly or via team, to the forums and knowledge base libraries
·Represents application engineering department in management meetings
·Recruits, hires, and mentors team members
·Works with sales, either directly or through team members, to respond to inquiries, product sales and technical materials, and provides drawings
·Oversees the technical support department
·Tracks metrics for customer support and provides guidance for continuous improvement
·Serves as focal point for global service/quality issues and leads the weekly service quality meeting. This requires coordination between operations, engineering, and commercial teams.
·Serves as the point of contact for global Alpha entities service and quality issues
·Ensures Service Centers globally are meeting metrics and providing quality service to customers while managing proactively warranty costs.
·Provides operational guidance to service depot for inventory, logistics and repair practices as required.

Skills Required: Requirements and Skills:

Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent military training in field of: engineering
Experience: 4 - 6 years in field of: Solar electric and renewable energy system design with strong emphasis on customer interaction, electrical design or support experience, and a working knowledge of both grid-tied and off-grid renewable energy systems.
Supervisory Experience: 2 to 4 years

·Work well under pressure
·Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
·Sufficient credit line for business expenses
·Available weekends and after hours when on call

As the Director of Sales and Business Development, your primary objective is to lead your team in providing exceptional customer service while meeting the company’s annual sales targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Departmental Oversight: Oversees everything related to services and products sold by the company. This currently includes but is not limited to: Commercial and Residential PV, Commercial Solar Thermal, O&M (Operations & Maintenance), Service/”Customer Service, EV-Charging, and Battery Systems.

Building a Team: Hires, manages and coaches all Sales team members.

Sales Training: fosters culture of consultative selling to customer's decision-makers at all levels.

Interdepartmental Contact: Serves as the go-to person for all Sales-related challenges, both internally and externally.

Sales Pipeline Management: Continuously monitors Salesforce software lead status; works with Sales Executives and Salesforce Administrator to assure status is accurate (in order to produce good numbers).

Sales Leader: Actively participates in specific sales efforts and strategies

Weekly Team Meetings: Leads weekly Sales team meetings to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded; works with Marketing and Operations to assure team is on track for all sales targets.

Weekly Senior Manager Meetings: Provides weekly Sales team metrics to the senior management

Quarterly Performance Reviews: Holds quarterly check-ins with each team member to assure all team members are meeting or exceeding individual targets/goals.

Sets Annual Sales Targets: Works with COO to set the company’s annual sales revenue target. Works with each Sales Executive in order to set her/his individual sales targets.

Business Development:

Prospecting: Seeks out and targets new customers and new sales opportunities, initiates action plan to approach and secure new business for the Company.

Strategic Analysis: Routinely assesses of effectiveness of strategic planning for SLP sales; adjusts plans in response to current and projected market activity.

Negotiation: Actively seeks out and negotiates relationships that bring SLP needed lead generation, financing and development capabilities/opportunities.

Skills Required: 15 years’ experience selling and sales management 3 of which must be commercial solar

10+ years’ experience leading a sales team, ideally in a small-to-medium sized EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) firm that required you to work cross-departmentally

Competency in Microsoft Office applications (especially PowerPoint, Excel) and

Possess the knowledge related to the terminology about the economics of renewable energy transactions

Outstanding communication skills: written, verbal, phone, and listening

A history of successful Solution selling expertise, and the ability to train our team members on this methodology

Bachelor’s degree preferred, however, we are open to extensive management experience in solar in lieu of a degree
