San Jose Building Department, SolarAPP+, and an Update on NEM 3.0
City of San Jose Building Department – Representatives from the City of San Jose will cover a range of topics including steps to receive a master permit for residential energy storage systems, the fee schedule for commercial and multifamily PV/ESS systems, recent changes in the permitting process for commercial and multifamily PV/ESS systems and more.
SolarAPP+ and YOU! – CALSSA has been hard at work getting local jurisdictions to implement SolarAPP+, an automated permitting application developed by the National Renewal Energy Laboratory that would be free for local jurisdictions. As of today, an associated $20 Million funding request from the State of California for technical assistance to local jurisdictions is moving forward and may become part of the FY21-22 budget. Online and instant permitting for routine rooftop solar and solar plus storage projects cuts down on soft costs, increases access to solar, and saves local staff time and resources!
