Help Us Fight for VNEM/NEMA and Against a High Fixed Charge
Please donate today!
The fight for the future of distributed solar in California hasn’t let up one bit since April when the drastic changes to net metering for single-meter properties took effect. Instead, it has only intensified. To keep the fight going, CALSSA needs your support.
The California Public Utilities Commission proposed making even more draconian changes to the Virtual Net Metering (VNEM) and Aggregate Net Metering (NEMA) tariffs a few weeks ago. In response, CALSSA kicked into action helping turn out dozens of speakers at their public meetings including school districts, affordable housing advocates, and solar businesses. We held meetings with the CPUC commissioners, the California Energy Commission, and with the governor’s office. Not long after, the CPUC announced they’d be pushing back the decision to October 12. This was good news in that it shows our advocacy is working. But there’s no guarantee the commission will modify the decision sufficient to save these critical markets. To win, we need to ramp up our work.
At the same time that the fight for the future of VNEM and NEMA is happening, CALSSA is also busy fighting against the extremely high fixed charges being proposed by the utilities.
This kind of all-hands on deck action requires resources. Resources we don’t have enough of today. Please consider donating as this very difficult year winds down.
