New Paths for Solar Contractors:
Whole-Home Services and Local Partners
Wednesday, November 4 | 11 AM - 12:30 PM PT
Solar, energy efficiency, and electrification naturally complement one another, but contractors have traditionally approached these services as separate lines of business. Please join CALSSA, in partnership with Home Energy Academy, along with the California Energy Commission, the Association of California Community & Energy Services, the Building Performance Institute and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council hosted by the LEARN Program to explore practical ways to diversify a solar business through efficiency and whole home electrification work.
We’ll start at a single home and quickly trace how and where solar and storage connect with efficiency, electrification, HVAC, and the building itself. Then we’ll explore the business models those connections could support: adding an adjacent service, teaming with a specialist, working with a local program provider, or connecting a customer with help outside your company’s scope.
Finally, we’ll look at the programs and resources that can fund putting those approaches into practice, including weatherization assistance, training, certifications, and local partnerships. Whether you’re strengthening your current business, looking for new customers, or considering a new service, we’ll explore what the next evolution of solar could look like for you.
Speakers include:
Spencer Rosen, Chief Energy Officer, Home Energy Academy
Nichole Smith, Executive Director, Association of California Community & Energy Services

Pagan Poggione, Vice President Workforce Strategy and Innovation , Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)
