Consumer Protection assistance Hotline

If you are a solar consumer and you believe you have been wronged, the California Solar & Storage Association may be able to help. Start by completing the complaint form below.

A copy of the Complaint will be sent to the company you have named so long as you provide a valid email address. The company will be given an opportunity to respond to you and to us.

CALSSA is a trade association. We are not lawyers or the state. CALSSA cannot compel any company, regardless of whether they are a CALSSA member, to agree to any complainant’s desired outcome. We can, and will, share with the subject of the complaint if they may be running afoul of state law and encourage them to work in good faith with the complainant. If CALSSA cannot be of assistance, complainants can contact the Contractor State License Board, pursue small claims court, or contact a lawyer.

CONTRACTOR BANKRUPTCIES

If your contractor has gone bankrupt, the workmanship and performance warranties, unfortunately, will likely be voided. If your system is third-party owned (such as a lease or PPA), the system owner likely still has obligations to ensure it is functioning properly. CALSSA is happy to reach out to the third-party owner if you need assistance generating a response from them.

If you paid for your system with cash, your equipment may still be under the manufacturer’s warranty. These terms will vary between manufacturers. You may want to contact a local contractor to see if they can diagnose any issue. A helpful list of contractors who do this work can be found at the Solar Rights Alliance website here.
